# 35 - The Flow & The 8 Conditions To Enter It

Episode 35 - The Flow, or "the Zone", this state of concentration and intense absorption in an activity, which is very often productive and particularly satisfying. This episode is dedicated to him.

Based on my reading of book of the same name, I discuss Flow by defining it, before reviewing the 8 conditions and components that characterize it.

This in order to better learn to recognize the beast when it appears on a daily basis, but also and above all to better tame it and to better act on our environment and model the perception we have of it, so as to enter more often. and easily in this state.

Good listening ! 😃

Hi Eric,

Thank you for this great summary and popularization adapted to your universe that we understand.
Your flow podcast has completely changed my view of the world! Amazing, thank you again! I arrived on it after listening to the most recent on the meaning of life, interesting for a refocusing and a more global reflection, while the flow allows to better appreciate and see every detail of everyday life as a game and find pleasure in it. .

Could you share your reading sheets on the site please? It would be great!
I'm going to read this good Mihaly. Good luck for the 52 episodes!

Hi Eric,
Just thank you for this podcast. I really liked your summary / analysis of this part of the book.
I find it interesting as the language has an impact in the culture of peoples and the understanding of things. Like the word meaning here which in French loses a lot of “openness” and possibilities, a difference that we find between French culture and American culture.
The word meaning is not the only one to show how the vocabulary impacts culture but the purpose of my comment was above all to thank you and congratulate you for your work.

Looking forward to listening to the next episodes, all good to you

Hello Eric,

First of all, thank you for this episode on the flow!
It's a concept that has fascinated me for a long time, and I personally found it the first time through video games (we're talking about a distant time 😅).

Full of good vibes ☀

Hi Eric,
First of all thank you for your podcasts, as always it's super interesting;)
Let me introduce myself quickly, my name is Tom, I am 22 years old and I will be finishing my studies very soon.
I am writing to you to get your opinion on a particular subject: you have already said several times that you were more introverted than extrovert (you had used the comparison with Elio on this subject, it seems to me).
My question is: What is your opinion on how introversion is perceived by people in society? And how do you manage this introversion in your relationships?
By that I mean that extraversion is often valued, whether socially, at work, ...
I am personally a very introverted person: apart from my very close friends, my family and the people I know well I speak very little in groups, without feeling any particular discomfort (which would be more shyness). Unsurprisingly, I have already had a lot of direct or indirect criticism on this subject, and it disturbs me a lot. I question myself, realize that I have hardly any friends, never had a long romantic relationship and I feel (too) different from the norm.

I have the impression of not succeeding in forging links with the few people I meet, because of my personality and often by choice (this is what scares me and has a rather perverse effect: I want to meet people but they melt in me, I know that I feel better alone, in the park with my bars or at home with a good book ...)
I then ask myself another question: should I force myself to become more outgoing, or keep my personality and learn to accept it as it is?

Sorry for the length of this post, but I think the topic of introversion / extroversion can be super interesting to discuss in a podcast;)

Thank you if you made it this far and wish you a great evening, and thank you again for your job, keep it up!

Hi Eric,

I have a little comment about your podcast for a detail :)
When you approach meditation, we see that you have a little interest in it! However, it does not in any way boil down to “silencing the mind”.
We are rather in the order of the observation of the mind, and in the acceptance.
It is a bit what we feel during the effort or in a situation of discomfort and where we will take a step back on our sensations. So in a way, you probably already practice it a bit!
I hope you will take a more in-depth look at it. In any case, I wish you that because it fits well with your vision of the personal dvpt and your philosophy I think! Maybe that will lead to an upcoming podcast?

Thank you for your work ! Keep on going :)
