It is true that when you want to start Street-Workout, you are more interested in learning how to do front lever and flags rather than push-ups and pull-ups. We'll try to quench your thirst in this article broken down into three big parts.

This first article will first introduce you to the Street-Workout tricks, or at least about 30 of them, their characteristics, and a general order in which you should learn them.

In a second part, all the methods of progression at your disposal to progress until obtaining these figures and finally, in last how to structure your routines and your trainings so as to be able to learn these figures as quickly and effectively as possible!

Thus, we will give you two concrete examples of routines for several figures that you can use as inspiration.

So we start with the first part, the figures themselves!

The tricks have been divided into 4 big categories, 4 ranks or grades that you can reach. Let's also distinguish the push/pull tricks and if they require you to have your arms stretched or bent, as this will be useful for the following!

In addition to that, each of them is assigned a score in three different characteristics, which summarizes quite well either the difficulty of a figure, that is to say the strength, the technique which also includes the balance, and the flexibility which also includes the mobility. The higher a characteristic is, the more difficult the figure is and it is also globally according to this that the order in which we present them to you has been determined.

The categories of figures: from the most accessible to the most difficult

The four categories are as follows:

  1. The mortals
  2. The Semi-Gods
  3. The Olympians
  4. The Titans

Figures to start with : The Mortals

Starting with the first category of mortals, first and foremost, the L-SIT, based primarily on flexibility is very important to lay some groundwork for the figures to come.

L-Sit / Square

Next, the PULL OVER, or belly up, is a great way to get over a high bar at first.

Pull Over / Belly Up

This exercise can be used for the first BALANCED MUSCLE UP.

Muscle Up Balanced

In the beginning, the technique to be learned will present a good challenge and will allow you to do muscle ups without too much force but then the less you use your legs and swing, the more force will become predominant and the exercise difficult.

We pass to theELBOW LEVER, an exercise which also will require a reasonable quantity of force if you have the mobility necessary to draw in the elbows well in the belly and that you understand how to play with the balance.

Elbow Lever

Now we'll mention the PISTOL SQUAT in affordable, well-balanced movement where mobility and technique are an important part of the equation.

Pistol Squat

To conclude the category of mortals the famous HANDSTANDThis is a very important element that I have already talked about a lot. Technique and balance are the real determining points here because they really reduce the need for strength when they are well developed.

If you ask me, the Handstand should be the very first trick you decide to learn, even though it may not be the first one you know, it will teach you to be aware of your body in space and will contribute to the good health of your shoulders which you will want to take care of. You can practice it very often and then do it without much effort.

Handstand / Balance

Go beyond yourself, become a Semi-God!

We now move on to the process of divinization and to the second category, that of the Semi-Gods. So no, I am not exaggerating at all, like Hercules and his Twelve Labors, you have to prove your worth.

We attack first with the pumps on one hand or brute force will greatly reduce the technical needs.

Single hand pump

Then we go to the ascent HANDSTAND IN FORCE (FOLDED)The more you improve and slow down the execution, the more difficult it becomes.

Afterwards, you will be able to try the DRAGON FLAG, an exercise which at first sight is quite impressive and a good pre-requisite for the front lever.

Then we find the V-SIT which will require a lot of flexibility and strength to be pushed further and further.

V-Sit

We pass then to the SEMI-PLANCHE which resembles an Elbow Lever except that this time we replace the balance by force.

Semi Board

We finish with the HAND PUSH UPS/ HANDSTAND PUSH UPS which require both strength and control. Not easy to place them in the ranking, because the difficulty depends on your previous work on the Hand Stand, as well as the depth at which you do them.

Handstand Push Ups

The Street-Workout Olympians

Bravo ! That's it, you are now in front of the gates of Mount Olympus where you can work on joining the Olympian Gods! So, you won't start directly at Zeus' level, but you will be able to join him at the top of this category.

We start directly with one of the most famous figures of street-workout, the BACK LEVER which will require a certain mobility and technique, in addition to the strength necessary to be in good shape.

Back Lever

You could then tackle the MUSCLE UP IN FORCE (FALSE GRIP), where you don't really leave much room for technique at the moment.

Muscle Up in strength (false grip)

The technique, which we prefer to use to learn the ELBOW LEVER WITH ONE ARM, becomes simpler with more strength but can be almost only a story of balance.

One arm Elbow Lever

Next, the HANDSTAND TENSIVE STRENGTH UP: so this one is pretty special, because it can become very "easy" once you work on becoming very flexible.

Handstand in strength (arms outstretched)

Then we come to what is probably the symbol of this sport, the most famous in the world: the FLAG.

Human Flag / Drapeau

Then we go to the famous FRONT LEVERthe figure that every self-respecting Street Workout enthusiast wants to unlock.

Front Lever

We then stop on another very balanced exercise, it is the case to say it: the HOLLOW BACK HANDSTAND which will require you to have been complete in your training. It is possible to do it with our Elevation Bars which you can find in our store.

Hollow Back Handstand

Then comes the time to rest one arm, especially during the BACK LEVER ONE-ARM, a figure that is more technical than it may seem, even if in the end pulling hard enough on your arm may be enough.

Back Lever with one arm

Then we go on with the powerful 90° pump/ HANDSTAND PUSH UPS À 90° which shows the strength and technique necessary to master it.

Handstand 90° Push Ups

We continue in the unilateral with the ONE-ARM TRACTION, which for the moment does not require much other than pure force.

One arm pull

Finally, you will be able to join Zeus in STRADDLE PLANCHE, a trick that will make you proud when you reach it. Note, however, that flexibility can help here.

If you ask me, everything we've seen so far is accessible to you and everyone else; no matter the basic size and weight, as long as you put in a good amount of work of course.

That's it for the Olympians, welcome to the club, bravo! You can be proud of yourself, rest, you have earned it.

Straddle Board

The Titans or the impossible figures

If you want to go further, ok! In this case, it is possible, you still have a small evolution, because of the small number of people who will ever reach it in their life: the Titans

Like the Titan Atlas, the elite of this group, of which I am not a part, seem to be able to separate themselves from the earth and control the gravity that affects the rest of us. Given my inability to demonstrate this, I asked @Sangohan_otz, French Champion and reigning World Champion of Street-Workout, and his team of titans to kindly review the latest tricks in this category reserved for those willing to pay the price to get there. Feel free to follow them on Instagram if you ever want to see them push the current limits of our bodies.
